Meet Juan I - Production Manager at 24 Hour Floor

Meet Juan I, Production Manager at 24 Hour Floor. Juan has been working with the company for more than two years. Juan started as a scheduling coordinator with Tru Colors Contracting, prior to taking on his recent role at 24 Hour Floor. Juan works with the 24 Hour Floor teams, maintaining product inventory to ensure that we have the right products available for our jobs, as well as visiting 24 Hour Floor customers after new floors have been installed to answer any questions they may have about their new floors.

Juan was born in Medellin, Colombia, which is known as the city of “Eternal Spring,” because of its moderate warm climate and temperature all year long. He moved to the United States when he was 16 years old and has lived here ever since. Juan attended Western High School in Davie, FL and Broward College, where he pursued an Associate of Science degree in Aviation. Juan’s early schooling was back in his homeland in Columbia.

 

Prior to working at 24 Hour Floor and Tru Colors Contracting, Juan worked for 8 years in the Aviation industry. “I started working at the airport as a security agent for a Colombian airline and moved my way up from there. I worked in customer service, checking passengers in, helping on arrivals and departures. I had the opportunity to learn dispatching of the aircrafts and started to get more involved in the operation side of things where I worked as a dispatcher in charge of all the paperwork, logistics and running the daily operations for multiple airlines,” commented Juan.

More recently, Juan worked for a Norwegian airline, overseeing the daily operations of more than 200 flights a day and taking action if any of the flights had an irregularity from a small delay, diversion to another city, weather or medical emergencies etc. “This all came to an end due to the pandemic, so it was time to look into other employment options,” added Juan.


Juan loves to travel and considers traveling one of his hobbies. “I try to make at least one  trip a year to a place I have never been. One of my favorite destinations thus far is Norway, I have had the opportunity to visit Norway three times and there is always something more to explore there,” commented Juan. Photography is another of Juan’s hobbies. “I have always been obsessed with photography, cameras and the process of editing my pictures as well as printing them not only posting them for social media. I use every type of camera I can get my hands on. At the moment, I shoot with a professional DSLR, a 1976 Canon AE-1 for film photography and I also love drones, so I have a Mavic air as well,” commented Juan.

An avid auto racing fan, Juan rates the Mercedes AMG Team as his favorite team and notes that he watches every F1 race of the season.


Working at 24 Hour Floor, Juan concludes that he loves learning so much about the floor and painting service trades. “I came here with zero experience in this type of field, and I have learned something from every single person… from many of the painters and the floor installers to the company owners: Lori and Paul.”
