Concrete coated floors are an excellent choice for enhancing the appearance of your garage, driveway, walkway, patio and pool deck. They are perfect for the South Florida climate, attractive and extremely durable. Whether you have a concrete coated patio in Miami Shores, a concrete coated garage in Fort Lauderdale, a concrete coated driveway in Palm Beach Gardens or a concrete coated pool deck in Port St. Lucie, you’ll want to keep it looking as good-as-new and well-preserved for years to come.
At 24 Hour Floor we recommend regular care and maintenance on your new concrete coated floor. Proper maintenance will improve both the appearance and performance of your floor, especially in high traffic areas, such as your garage and driveway.
The Right Cleaning Method For Your New Concrete Coated Floor
Periodic sweeping of your concrete coated floor is beneficial for removing surface dirt, dust and other debris. We recommend a microfiber dust mop, since almost all brooms may be too abrasive and cause unnecessary scratches. We at 24 Hour Floor suggest sweeping your floor with a microfiber mop once a month. If your garage area is extremely dusty, we recommend cleaning it more often to avoid dust build-up on your floor, which could inevitably impair the topcoat.
Regularly washing your concrete coated floor is also recommended three to four times a year. Using a solution of five ounces of clear ammonia per a gallon of water in a mop bucket, is a safe and effective way to clean your floor. A degreaser can also be applied on occasion, but your floor must be rinsed thoroughly afterwards to avoid leaving a soapy film.
In closed-in quarters such as your garage, 24 Hour Floor recommends using a hose and nozzle to rinse your floor from the back and sides of the floor into the middle, and then out the door. A floor squeegee is ideal for quickly drying your floor from the back of the garage, pulling the water from the back and sides into the middle and then out toward the driveway.
Stains, Marks and Spills
For stubborn marks and scoff on your concrete coated floor, use a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Pour the rubbing alcohol directly on the stain and use a small scrub brush to gently remove the mark or scoff.
Clean Up Spills Immediately
Although your new 24 Hour Floor is stain-resistant, chemical stains and other solvents should be wiped up immediately as soon as they occur to avoid the floor from wearing down. We suggest using a soft dry rag to wipe up the spilled chemical as soon as it happens. You then can spot clean the area with a degareaser to remove any remaining stain. Wipe the area clean afterwards with a wet cloth to avoid any residue. Spills of any type should be wiped up immediately before they dry and become difficult to remove.
Tire Marks in your garage should also be taken care of promptly. Use a degreaser to remove the marks. Wipe the area clean afterwards with water and soft cloth to avoid slipping.
Scratches
While scratches to a floor are an everyday occurrence it is still best to avoid scratching the surface of your floor, since this will dull the floor’s surface. Avoid dragging heavy equipment on the floor surface, since this will cause some scratching, if you have to move a heavy item, use protective pads or a soft cloth underneath.
Abrasive cleaners and cleaning equipment that could scratch the surface of your floor should also be avoided
