24 Hour Floor Installs New Exterior Floors At The Iconic B Ocean Resort In Fort Lauderdale, FL

The B Ocean Resort on Fort Lauderdale Beach holds the distinction of being one of the most iconic landmarks on Fort Lauderdale Beach. While the nearby Elbo Room Bar is perhaps more infamous for its annual Spring Break festivities, that took place decades ago, the B Ocean Resort is renowned for its unique architectural design. Built in 1956 with the original name of the Yankee Clipper, the Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel features a ship-like structure exterior, that has stood out from other hotels for decades on the popular South Florida beachfront area. Interestingly, the maritime design was conceived out of necessity, when the hotel was being built in the 1950’s, since the land on it was V-shaped and the architect working on the project, created a ship motif that could complement the shape of the land it was sitting upon.

The Yankee Clipper on Fort Lauderdale Beach soon became a popular tourist destination when it opened in 1956. With premium luxury amenities and all air conditioned rooms, the Fort Lauderdale beachside hotel a popular tourist destination. The New York Yankees, who made Fort Lauderdale their Spring Training Home, took up residency at the Yankee Clipper for years. Film legend Marilyn Monroe stayed at Yankee Clipper after its opening, visiting her former husband and Yankee Baseball Player Joe DiMaggio during Spring Training. More recently in 1999, the film Analyze This with Robert DeNiro and Billy Crystal was shot at the hotel’s Wreck Bar.


In 2015, B Resorts and Hotels took over ownership of the popular Fort Lauderdale Beach resort. The company spent several years renovating and updating the popular maritime inspired hotel. The hotel recently sought to upgrade a deck area and the exterior walkways, which lead to a good many of the hotel’s guests to their rooms.

 

The existing concrete floors were starting to wear, and the hotel wanted outdoor floors that would be able to withstand the Florida sun, as well as hold up to environmental conditions and above all, be of premium quality to complement the aesthetics of the resort. The scope of the project involved grinding down the original epoxy floors and replacing them with premium concrete coated floors from 24 Hour Floor. The hotel chose a Twilight finish, which complements the tranquil colors of the Atlantic Ocean backdrop.
